Brentwood is located in East Contra Costa County and was known for its agricultural products – cherries, corn, and peaches. It incorporated in 1948. Starting in the 1990s, Brentwood had a huge population growth, which continues today, with a current population of about 65,000. While Brentwood still has its First Street charm, shopping centers, and other services, including the John Muir Hospital, have turned Brentwood into a thriving community. Brentwood includes gated communities, with some being for seniors only, as well as a successful wine industry.
